Rustic Adventure in the Hills
Meghalaya is a state in Northeast India. This hilly state was nicknamed as Scotland of the east during British Colonial times owing to its beautiful landscape and numerous waterfalls. There are many unique and interesting things in this place like caves, natural root bridges, crystal clear rivers etc. Mawphlang sacred grove has an amazing life form of plants, flowering trees, orchids and butterflies. They have been preserved by traditional religious sanction, since the ancient days and so they can be aptly considered as Nature's own Museum. Cherapunjee is a beautiful place of hills, waterfalls, streams, valleys and forests. Cycling in cherapunjee is a delight. This place is also popular for trekking. A wonderful thing to see nearby is the living root bridge, an indigenous ecofriendly invention by the locals to cross small streams and rivulets.
